This server started as a single world as a private server that only 5-6 people played on for over a year. These people were pilotdan1985, his sister dotto88, and dotto88's boyfriend at the time jjmonns. The other people were friends of jjmonns who only played for a brief period, and have not been back ever since. Although some of their builds can still be seen in the "new" world which is our oldest map. To our best estimates the original game version we played on was 1.0.0 which was released November 18, 2011. pilotdan1985 was not the origional owner of the server. jjmonns used to host the server. He hosted it for several months, even after the server was opened to the public on April 12, 2012.
The original world which we played no longer exists. But if you go to new and do /warp castle you can see one of the old builds pilotdan1985 and jjmonns built on the old map.
pilotdan1985's first build ever on the server /warp castle
jjmonns fishing town first public admin shop near pandora at /warp new
If you would like to see some of the oldest builds on the server, become trusted, and go to "new". Head towards pandora then hang a right, you'll see a little fishing town in the lake. jjmonns built that several years ago. One of the buildings in the fishing town was used as the first admin shop on the server for a while. The giant square tower next to pandora was pilotdan1985's first use of world edit. Head back to spawn and take the hallway to pilotdan1985's house but hang a left at the bottom of the stairs and follow the signs to get to pilotdan1985's first home on the "new" server.
After jjmonns turned over ownership to the server to me we transferred all the files to my personal computer and I ran the server on there for a few months. I bought a second computer to run the server a short time after that. About a year after I bought the first dedicated machine to host the server I bought an ACTUAL server which we still play on today. All hosted out of my house.
I've been playing minecraft since sometime around April 2011. I played by myself on my own computer building this for a long time:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNQHbl8ZliE Shortly after I made that video I got my sister and jjmonns playing on a private server, which he opened to the public eventually.
While I played on my hotel map I was also playing on a public server called wingsman2.mine.nu It was the only public server I ever played on and met a lot of our oldest players there. Tapuout808, Johnlocke, ntuvp, buildin4days, & asalvu just to name a few. I still play minecraft to this day. Sometimes I play legit survival since this is a survival server, however, I get bored with that so I mess with world edit a lot. I also build a lot of stuff in creative and mess with redstone projects.
I actually am a pilot in real life. I fly small planes as a hobby. Yes I was born in 1985 and my name is Dan.
I am not the greatest builder in the world. I built a few of the origional spawn areas on the server. We have had several spawn areas now. Here are a few of them in order of oldest to newest:
pilotdan1985 – owner
dotto88 – admin (pilotdan1985’s sister)
jjmonns – admin (dotto88’s old boyfriend and original owner)
wingsman2 – debugger (basically admin – he helps me fix problems with the server)
blu3d3vilmonk3y – admin (does all rank promoting and manages day to day server activities)
The vanilla temp server runs on its own computer, which was our old server. It is a basic desktop pc running Windows 7 professional 64 bit. A Intel i5-3450 3.10 GHz cpu. 16GB of ram. It has two hard drives, one stores windows data, the other stores all the server data. Both hard drives are 1TB drives. The vanilla server is using 245GB of storage. There are 433,077 Files, 1,210 Folders.
The hub server is is running on a second machine, and its one beast of a machine. I'm running several minecraft servers on the same machine. All of the servers are linked together via a proxy. Each world on the hub server is basically its own server. This machine is running Windows Server 2008 software. It has 2 Intel Xeon X5570 2.93Ghz processors. 72GB of ram. and 4 1TB hard drives. The hub server uses 3 of the hard drives in a raid setup that constantly mirror each of the other drives in case one fails. The 4th drive stores windows data. The data being stored on the hub server just for the servers is 900 GB (966,392,987,648 bytes) and contains 2,374,043 Files, 12,238 Folders.
